Last Christmas, we were given two Ofelia-related gifts. Aino gave me an aquarelle by Raila Paavola, of Ofelia, based on a photo by Paula. The photo was taken at around 60° 3,434′ N, 22° 10,866 E, on 25 July 2018, i.e. on Gullkrona fjärd. There was practically no wind and the temperature was close to 30° C, something locally extraordinary. We were at the same time suffering and enjoying.

The photo is slightly too dark compared to the reality. The aquarelle reminds us of an extremely hot summer 2018. The land in the horizon is closer only in the artist’s imagination.
There was actually a video taken by Paula at about the same time. The third, last boat was just a random Bavaria, which happened to be close to us.
Another gift was somewhat surprisingly related to the same area. We were given a donation to the John Nurminen Foundation by Jaakko and Tiina. They had donated a sum, which was pinpointed north-northeast of Helsingholmen, not far away from the spot where the aquarelle can be identified. A wonderful immaterial gift to the sea, which definitely needs help.

We spent one of the hottest and windless days in Helsingholm, trying to survive under provisional biminis, sipping champagne and rosé…

Here is a sunset photo from Helsingholmen, taken by Jaakko.
